ADHD Facts and Misconceptions

There are plenty of facts we always hear about ADHD.   How many of them are actually true?  Demystifying attention deficit disorder can only happen if we get the correct facts out there.   It is inherited.   It is NOT an intellectual disorder.   Just because you have ADD does not mean you are less intelligent.   At its core attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is just how it sounds, a disorder that involves a lack of attention and hyperactivity.   An excellent article has more:

ADHD Facts and Misconceptions

ADHD is the most common reason that a child would see a child psychiatrist. It affects six to nine per cent of school-aged children, and there is 70 per cent persistence into adolescence.
It’s estimated that ADHD affects almost four-and-a-half per cent of the adult population.
