The Loss of a Child is the Greatest Pain
The death of a child can be a devastating loss. Researchers have shown that the death of a child can also for some be a very dangerous thing, especially for mothers who cannot overcome the deep depression of grief that accompanies it.
The webesite PsychCentral recently posted an article about this. Rick Nauert writes in his article a “Mother’s Grief Over Child’s Death Can Be Lethal” that certain studies show a disturbing trend of mothers who die after their child dies.
The death of a child is always wrenching, but a new study paints a particularly troubling picture of its aftermath.
Researchers found a mother has a 133 percent increased risk of dying in the first two years following the death of a child.
Researchers William Evans, Ph.D., a health and labor economist at the University of Notre Dame, and health economist Javier Espinosa, Ph.D., of the Rochester Institute of Technology, studied 69,224 mothers aged 20 to 50 for nine years
