When our children leave the nest, it is okay to grieve!

Loss is not always about death.  Loss can be about change.  Children leaving the nest can leave a parent very sad, especially a single parent. Parents, married, or divorced may face some grief in these days.  New adjustments may take time as well.

It is alright to feel grief in this.  While it is not the ultimate grief of losing a child, it should not be underestimated, the legitimate grief a parent can feel when the child becomes a young adult and ventures out on his or her own to college.
