What is Stress? Its influence and methods of struggle with it

Stress is person’s response to a stressor such as environmental conditions, problems, shouldering a huge workload, taking care about your family, the necessity of making ends meet or just stimulus. That is how our body reacts to a challenge.

So when we face with challenge out hypothalamus sets off an alarm system in our body. And our body makes adrenal glands release a surge of hormones, such as adrenalin and cortisol. These two things help our organism to find the best way out from stress situations and do it as quick as possible. So just imagine that adrenaline helps to increase your heart rate, elevate blood pressure and, of course, boost energy supplies. And cortisol, which is the primary stress hormone, at that very time, supplies your brain with glucose by increasing the level of sugars in your bloodstream.

As you see nature provides us with very efficient instrument in order to resist to stresses.  In out every day life small amount of stress makes us to be in excellent shape and achieve our goals and make constant progress. But when we live in a state of constant stress the limits of our stress-response system are gradually exhausting. And this can even puts you at risk of numerous health problems, such as:

  • Depression;
  • Weight gain;
  • Anxiety;
  • Digestive problems;
  • Sleep problems;
  • Heart diseases;
  • Memory and concentration impairment.

And all these problems happen because of terminal influence of cortisol hormone, which alters immune system and suppresses the digestive, reproductive and growth systems. It also alarms the region of our brain under which control mood, fear and motivation are.

That is why we should struggle with negative influences of stress on our organism and do our best in order to diminish its negative effects and consequences.

And in order to do this we, first of all, you should try not to react so painfully on absolutely not important and even laughable trifles. Just smile to them and think about something good.

The second advice you can follow is morning exercises every day. They will help you to fill your body with energy, positive emotions and let be very fit. And the most important is the fact, that this will help you to improve your immune system and increase the resistive capacity of your organism towards stress situations.

And the third advice, which will help to everyone, even to whose, who is so lazy, that can’t and don’t want to do morning exercises, is relaxation. This thing will teach you how to manage your stress and save your health. In order to relax you can use the following techniques:

  • Meditate;
  • Be present: you should slow down your mad race and focus on things around you, on demands of your organism and its senses and feelings;
  • Breathe deeply. Just focus on your deep breath and have a rest;
  • Reach out: you should talk with somebody even about trifles in order to switch to another wave;
  • Get moving;
  • Listen to soothing music;
  • Laugh our loud. This will lower your cortisol level.

Of course this is not the whole list of relaxation and breath techniques, and methods of relieving and reducing the influences of stress on out organism. But, first of all, just try these very advices and if they improve your general condition, then continue to follow them and also broaden your methods and better your skills in the sphere of “war with stress.”
