Objectives

  • To provide defined healthcare professionals with a professional organization that offers "certification" in specialty practices, and "Fellowships"
  • To offer healthcare professionals the opportunity to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skill attainment via a thesis, project or advanced study, and achieve the status of "Fellowship" within their professional division of the Institute
  • To develop, publish and promote specific requirements for attainment of certification through routes such as; examination, reciprocity, work experience, completion of educational courses, and university/college based courses. Fellowship requirements include successful completion of a project, thesis, or evidence of significant advanced formal study in the specialty practice
  • To establish appropriate requirements for re-certification, and re-application of Fellowship status for the defined practice specialties
  • To support a "Code of Ethics" for each of the defined professional specialties. The codes of ethics address all professionals who achieve certification through the Institute, as well as those who achieve Fellowship status
  • To provide a program for the approval of continuing education offerings, seminars, events, including, but not limited to, self-study programs, university and college based courses, etc, that meet the requirements of a quality educational offer and which may be used toward recertification application for certified members of the Institute
  • To support healthcare professionals in their personal growth, development, knowledge and skill attainment for their defined practice specialties
  • To verify to the healthcare market the attainment of professional Certification or/and Fellowship, as a testimony to advanced skill, knowledge and practice experience within professional practices
  • To establish national standards of practice requirements for those designated "Certified" or having achieved "Fellowship" from the Institute
