Bcgeu Public Service Agreement

Vancouver (July 18, 2018) – After five weeks of negotiations, the B.C.Government and Service Employees` Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) has reached a three-year preliminary agreement with the B.C government for members working directly in the public service. The Public Service Bargaining Committee recommends that members vote in favour of the agreement. At ratification, all amendments to the 18th Interim Convention on the Public Service will come into effect after the current agreement expires. On that date, the 18th Public Service Agreement and the five individual component agreements will replace existing agreements. The Public Service Bargaining Committee recommends that members vote in favour of the agreement. In addition to the negotiations at the main table, the negotiating committees have worked hard to secure sectoral agreements for members, and all five of them recommend the adoption and ratification of the constituent agreements. The vote counting of all members of the public service will take place on August 8 at the BCGEU headquarters in Burnaby. All ballots must be filed with the central or other district office before the closing of the business (5:00 p.m. on August 7. In preparation for the ratification vote, the union has prepared a ratification newsletter that should be sent by mail and email to all members.
